My Story…
Deanna, he said, I want to give you this picture of St. Rafqa. I had just recently learned of St. Rafqa back then. He continued and said” take some of this soil and pray, ask St. Rafqa to intercede for you, I believe this will help.”
At the time I was experiencing a severe problem with my face. I awoke one morning only to find many many, warts that itched, ached and spoiled my face. Of course, I rushed to a dermatologist to seek advice. The doctor informed me that this problem was anything but simple. He informed me it would be a process of sessions to correct the problem, with no absolutes. In desperation, I rushed home in tears. As I stood under the shower, I remember thinking, God please help me. I need your help and believe that You could heal me. Taking the soil, from St. Rafqa’s Church in Lebanon, that my boyfriend had given me, I placed it in my mouth and prayed. I pleaded for St. Rafqa’s help from the depth of my being. I remembered my boyfriend’s words “have faith “.
I avoided the mirror for sometime the next day, however, I felt a lot less itchy. I slowly crept up to the mirror, hesitating, but needing to face myself. To my unimaginable surprise, my faced looked like the warts were treated somehow, only dry scabs remained. Tears poured as I thought I can hardly wait for my doctor’s appointment tomorrow, I wanted desperately to know what he would say had happened.
When morning finally arrived, while in the doctors office the doctors voice echo’s still, “you have no warts left, I don't know how this happened you’ll probably be somewhat itchy from the scabs for a bit but that my face would be back to normal soon after.” Approximately, two weeks later my face was back to normal. I will never forget the fear I had then. I promised not to forget to be thankful daily for this blessing.
I continue to give thanks to God and pray “St. Rafqa, I humble myself towards you and I ask for your guidance, love, strength, and courage. I promised then to devote a website to St. Rafqa in thanks for her intercession. |
